The boar is an animal related to the pig, although it has more hair, brownish or listed, for camouflage, and shorter legs. The males develop large teeth, which serve to his defense. This species lives occupying vast territories, where individuals organize themselves into small groups.

In Portugal, they can still be found in virtually all of mainland, with the exception of the coast, where the housing construction industry and left no room large enough for their maintenance.
